Wine Buy: Apremont 2001
Pierre Boniface's Apremont 2001 is a delicious wine made from the Jacquere grape that will no doubt be at the top of my summer sippers list. Jacquere grapes are only grown in the Savoie region of eastern France. It's an area that historically encompassed parts of both Italy and Switzerland -- Alpine country.
Apremont has a lovely floral nose, and as I sip it, I can't help but think, that if fresh air had a flavor, this would be it. It's light, crisp, and refreshing. Although I prefer drinking this wine only slightly chilled, Arthur thought he would like it very chilled.
Apremont sells for approximately $9.99 a bottle. Imported by Hand Picked Selections, it is distributed by House of Burgundy in New York City, Regal Wines in New Jersey, and Slocum and Sons in Connecticut. If you have trouble finding it in your local wine shop, call Peter Sloan at (914) 271-5831.
